Baskonia took control, defeated Olimpia 88-73

Baskonia took control of the game in the second quarter right after Olimpia momentarily went up 20-19. A 11-0 run changed the game and Olimpia was never able to be threatening again on its way to a 88-73 loss. Down by 14 at the half, a promising start to the second half with a 8-0 run that forced Coach Ivanovic’s time-out remained meaningless. Baskonia regained a 14-point lead and finished the game with no problems, prevailing 88-73 at the end. “For many reasons, we never had continuity of work or game. This is it,” Coach Ettore Messina pointed out. Shavon Shields scored 13 first-half points and finished with 17. Nikola Mirotic added 21 points. The only momentum that Olimpia built was in the third quarter when Shabazz Napier made a three and completed a three-point play. After it, Napier had one more three-point attempt to reduce the deficit, but he missed. On the ensuing possession, Markus Howard made two free throws that essentially changed the game one more time.
